# Add

> Add two numbers in an automation.

`add` adds two numbers and returns their sum.

```ts automations/add.automation.ts theme={null}
import { add, automation, log, onHttpRequest } from "automate.ax"

export default automation("Add two numbers", () => {
  onHttpRequest({ scope: "automation" })
  const total = add({ a: 12, b: 30 })
  log({ value: total })
})
```

| Input | Type     | Required | Description    |
| ----- | -------- | -------- | -------------- |
| `a`   | `number` | Yes      | First addend.  |
| `b`   | `number` | Yes      | Second addend. |

Returns `Signal<number>` containing `a + b`. Both inputs accept compatible
signals.
