# Multiply

> Multiply two numbers in an automation.

`multiply` multiplies two numbers and returns their product.

```ts automations/multiply.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation, log, multiply, onHttpRequest } from "automate.ax"

export default automation("Calculate a total", () => {
  onHttpRequest({ scope: "automation" })
  const total = multiply({ a: 19.5, b: 4 })
  log({ value: total })
})
```

| Input | Type     | Required | Description    |
| ----- | -------- | -------- | -------------- |
| `a`   | `number` | Yes      | First factor.  |
| `b`   | `number` | Yes      | Second factor. |

Returns `Signal<number>` containing `a * b`. Both inputs accept compatible
signals.
