# Create table

> Create a table and its initial fields in an Airtable base.

`airtable.createTable` creates one table and its default grid view.

```ts automations/add-orders-table.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { airtable } from "automate.ax/airtable"

export default automation("Add orders table", () => {
  airtable.createTable({
    baseId: "app123",
    name: "Orders",
    fields: [{ name: "Order", type: "singleLineText" }],
  })
})
```

`baseId`, `name`, and a non-empty `fields` array are required. `description` and each field's `description` and provider-documented `options` are optional. The first field becomes primary. Returns the created table schema. Requires `schema.bases:write` and base creator access.
