# Confirm tool

> Approves or denies a pending built-in or MCP tool execution.

`anthropic.confirmTool` approves or denies a pending built-in or MCP tool execution.

## Example

```ts automations/anthropic-confirm-tool.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation, onInvocation, withPrerequisites } from "automate.ax"
import { anthropic } from "automate.ax/anthropic"
export default automation("Confirm tool", () => {
  withPrerequisites(onInvocation(), () => {
    anthropic.confirmTool({
      sessionId: "session-id",
      toolUseId: "event-id",
      result: "allow",
    })
  })
})
```

## Inputs

Requires `sessionId`, the pending `toolUseId`, and `result`. Use `denyMessage` only when denying; include `sessionThreadId` for a subagent tool call. Inputs use public camelCase names and accept signals.

## Output and behavior

Returns the accepted confirmation. Resolve every ID from `requiresAction` before execution resumes.

Anthropic requests time out before the action lease and provider mutations are not retried after an uncertain response unless stated otherwise.
