# Create agent

> Creates a reusable, versioned Claude agent definition.

`anthropic.createAgent` creates a reusable, versioned Claude agent definition.

## Example

import { automation, onInvocation, withPrerequisites } from "automate.ax"
import { anthropic } from "automate.ax/anthropic"

export default automation("Create agent", () => {
  withPrerequisites(onInvocation(), () => {
    anthropic.createAgent({
      name: "Repository reviewer",
      model: "claude-sonnet-5",
    })
  })
})
```

## Inputs

Requires `name` and `model`. You can also set `description`, `system`, `tools`, `mcpServers`, `skills`, `multiagent`, and up to 16 metadata pairs. Inputs use public camelCase names and accept signals.

## Output and behavior

Returns the created agent and version. Creating is not replay-safe after an uncertain response.

Anthropic requests time out before the action lease and provider mutations are not retried after an uncertain response unless stated otherwise.
