# Submit custom tool result

> Resolves one pending application-defined custom tool call.

`anthropic.submitCustomToolResult` resolves one pending application-defined custom tool call.

## Example

```ts automations/anthropic-submit-custom-tool-result.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation, onInvocation, withPrerequisites } from "automate.ax"
import { anthropic } from "automate.ax/anthropic"
export default automation("Submit custom tool result", () => {
  withPrerequisites(onInvocation(), () => {
    anthropic.submitCustomToolResult({
      sessionId: "session-id",
      customToolUseId: "event-id",
      content: [{ type: "text", text: "Tool result" }],
    })
  })
})
```

## Inputs

Requires `sessionId` and `customToolUseId`. Optional content can be marked with `isError`; include `sessionThreadId` for subagent work. Inputs use public camelCase names and accept signals.

## Output and behavior

Returns the accepted result event.

Anthropic requests time out before the action lease and provider mutations are not retried after an uncertain response unless stated otherwise.
