# Update environment

> Updates a hosted Claude environment.

`anthropic.updateEnvironment` updates a hosted Claude environment.

## Example

import { automation, onInvocation, withPrerequisites } from "automate.ax"
import { anthropic } from "automate.ax/anthropic"

export default automation("Update environment", () => {
  withPrerequisites(onInvocation(), () => {
    anthropic.updateEnvironment({
      environmentId: "environment-id",
      description: "Restricted review environment",
    })
  })
})
```

## Inputs

Requires `environmentId`. You can update its name, description, metadata, packages, and cloud network policy. Inputs use public camelCase names and accept signals.

## Output and behavior

Returns the updated environment. This mutation is not automatically replayed.

Anthropic requests time out before the action lease and provider mutations are not retried after an uncertain response unless stated otherwise.
