# Set task parent

> Move an Asana task under a parent task or clear its parent.

`asana.setTaskParent` move an Asana task under a parent task or clear its parent.

import { asana } from "automate.ax/asana"

export default automation("Set task parent", () => {
  onDashboardRun({ title: "Set task parent" })
  asana.setTaskParent({ taskId: "task-gid", parentTaskId: "parent-task-gid" })
})
```

Provide `taskId` and `parentTaskId`; use `null` to clear the parent. Optional `insertBeforeTaskId` or `insertAfterTaskId` positions the subtask. Optional second argument `{ account }` selects a named Asana binding.

Returns the updated task.
