# Set automation enabled

> Enable or disable an Automate.ax automation.

`automate.setAutomationEnabled` sets the desired enabled state of one automation.

`automation` accepts an imported automation descriptor, exact ID, or unique deployed description. Setting the current value again is a safe, idempotent operation. The action returns the database transaction ID and requires `project:update`.
