# On Close opportunity lost

> Run when an opportunity enters a lost status.

`close.onOpportunityLost` run when an opportunity enters a lost status.

```ts automations/on-close-opportunity-lost.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { close } from "automate.ax/close"
export default automation("On Close opportunity lost", () => {
  const event = close.onOpportunityLost()
  // Start the lost Close opportunity follow-up.
})
```

Optional static `account` selects a named Close binding; the project binding is the default. Automate.ax creates and maintains the Close webhook and verifies each delivery with Close's signing secret.

Returns a `CloseEvent` whose `data` is the lost `CloseOpportunity`. Close emits an opportunity update; Automate.ax classifies it by `data.statusType === "lost"`. All semantic events preserve the shared [Close event envelope](/reference/integrations/close/triggers/on-close-event#trigger-data).
