# Create thread from message

> Create a public Discord thread attached to an existing message.

`discord.createThreadFromMessage` create a public Discord thread attached to an existing message.

```

## Inputs

Required channel ID, message ID, and 1–100 character `name`. Optional `autoArchiveDuration`, `rateLimitPerUser`, and `reason`. Optional second argument `{ account }` selects the Discord binding.

## Output

Returns the created thread as `DiscordChannel`.

## Discord behavior

Requires `CREATE_PUBLIC_THREADS`; the starter message cannot already have a thread.
