# Create thread

> Create a standalone public, private, or announcement Discord thread.

`discord.createThread` creates a standalone public, private, or announcement Discord thread.

```ts automations/discord-create-thread.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation, onHttpRequest } from "automate.ax"
import { discord } from "automate.ax/discord"
export default automation("Create thread", () => {
  onHttpRequest({ scope: "automation" })
  discord.createThread({
    channelId: "234567890123456789",
    name: "Private review",
    type: "private",
  })
})
```

## Inputs

Required parent `channelId` and `name`. Optional `type`, `autoArchiveDuration`, `rateLimitPerUser`, and `reason`. Private threads also accept `invitable`. Optional second argument `{ account }` selects the Discord binding.

## Output

Returns the created thread as `DiscordChannel`.

## Discord behavior

Requires the matching public/private thread permission; announcement threads require an announcement channel.
