# Update channel

> Update mutable Discord channel or thread fields.

`discord.updateChannel` update mutable Discord channel or thread fields.

## Inputs

Required `channelId`; provide any mutable channel fields plus optional audit-log `reason`. Optional second argument `{ account }` selects the Discord binding.

## Output

Returns the updated `DiscordChannel`.

## Discord behavior

Requires the permission appropriate to the changed field, usually `MANAGE_CHANNELS` or `MANAGE_THREADS`. Updates to type-dependent fields first read the channel so Automate.ax can validate them against its existing type.
