# Update emoji

> Update a custom Discord emoji's name or allowed roles.

`discord.updateEmoji` update a custom Discord emoji's name or allowed roles.

## Inputs

Required server and emoji IDs. Optional valid `name`, `roleIds`, and audit-log `reason`; `null` role IDs clears restrictions. Optional second argument `{ account }` selects the Discord binding.

## Output

Returns the updated `DiscordEmoji`.

## Discord behavior

Requires `MANAGE_GUILD_EXPRESSIONS`; managed emojis cannot be edited.
