# Update server

> Update a Discord server's core settings.

`discord.updateGuild` updates a server's name and common moderation settings.

## Inputs

Required `guildId`. Optional `name`, `verificationLevel`, `defaultMessageNotifications`, `explicitContentFilter`, `afkChannelId`, `afkTimeout`, `systemChannelId`, and audit-log `reason`. Nullable channel IDs clear the setting. Optional second argument `{ account }` selects the Discord binding.

## Output

Returns the updated `DiscordGuild`.

## Discord behavior

Requires `MANAGE_GUILD`. Discord may reject settings unavailable to the server's current feature set.
