# Create speech

> Converts text to an audio file with an ElevenLabs voice.

`elevenLabs.createSpeech` requires `text` and `voiceId`. `modelId` defaults to `eleven_multilingual_v2`, `outputFormat` to `mp3_44100_128`, `applyTextNormalization` to `auto`, and `enableLogging` to `true`. Optional inputs include `languageCode`, `voiceSettings`, `seed`, request IDs, and surrounding text. It returns a generated `File`.
