# Delete GitHub release

> Delete a GitHub release without deleting its tag.

`github.deleteRelease` deletes one release record.

```ts automations/delete-github-release.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { github } from "automate.ax/github"

export default automation("Delete GitHub release", () => {
  github.deleteRelease({
    owner: "SentsCo",
    releaseId: 123456,
    repository: "automate.ax",
  })
})
```

Provide the repository and `releaseId`. Returns `{}` after deletion. GitHub does not delete the associated Git tag; delete that reference separately if needed. Requires Contents write permission.
