# Disable GitHub workflow

> Disable a GitHub Actions workflow without deleting its file.

`github.disableWorkflow` disables a workflow while leaving its YAML file unchanged.

import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { github } from "automate.ax/github"

export default automation("Disable legacy workflow", () => {
  github.disableWorkflow({
    owner: "SentsCo",
    repository: "automate.ax",
    workflowId: 123456,
  })
})
```

Provide the repository and a numeric workflow ID or workflow file name. Returns `{}` after GitHub accepts the change. Requires Actions write permission.
