# Get GitHub combined commit status

> Get the combined commit status for a GitHub ref.

`github.getCombinedCommitStatus` returns the latest status for each context and GitHub's combined state.

import { github } from "automate.ax/github"

export default automation("Check GitHub status", () => {
  const status = github.getCombinedCommitStatus({
    owner: "SentsCo",
    ref: "main",
    repository: "automate.ax",
  })
})
```

Provide `owner`, `repository`, and a commit SHA, branch, or tag `ref`. Optional pagination controls the returned status contexts. Returns `state`, `sha`, `total_count`, and `statuses`. Requires Commit statuses read permission.
