# Get GitHub release

> Get one GitHub release by ID.

`github.getRelease` gets one repository release.

```ts automations/get-github-release.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { github } from "automate.ax/github"

export default automation("Get GitHub release", () => {
  const release = github.getRelease({
    owner: "SentsCo",
    releaseId: 123456,
    repository: "automate.ax",
  })
})
```

Provide the repository and numeric `releaseId`. Returns the release's `id`, `tag_name`, `draft`, and `prerelease` state. Requires Contents read permission.
