# On GitHub check run event

> Start an automation from any GitHub check run activity.

`github.onCheckRunEvent` starts an automation for any delivered `check_run` action.

```ts automations/watch-github-check-runs.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { github } from "automate.ax/github"
export default automation("Watch GitHub check runs", () => {
  const event = github.onCheckRunEvent()
  github.createIssue({
    owner: event.repository.owner.login,
    repository: event.repository.name,
    title: event.check_run.name,
  })
})
```

Returns GitHub's typed check-run webhook payload, including `action`, `check_run`, repository, and sender. Use a semantic trigger when you only need one lifecycle outcome. Requires Checks read permission.
