# On GitHub check run requested action

> Start an automation when someone selects a check-run action.

`github.onCheckRunRequestedAction` starts an automation when someone selects one of the actions exposed by a check run.

```ts automations/github-check-run-requested-action.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { github } from "automate.ax/github"
export default automation("Handle GitHub check action", () => {
  const event = github.onCheckRunRequestedAction()
  github.updateCheckRun({
    owner: event.repository.owner.login,
    repository: event.repository.name,
    checkRunId: event.check_run.id,
    status: "in_progress",
  })
})
```

Returns the typed payload with `action: "requested_action"` and the selected `requested_action.identifier`. GitHub sends it only to the App that owns the check run. Requires Checks write permission.
