# On GitHub issue closed

> Start an automation when a GitHub issue is closed.

`onGitHubIssueClosed` emits GitHub issue deliveries whose action is `"closed"`, including the provider's state reason.

```ts automations/watch-closed-github-issues.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { onGitHubIssueClosed } from "automate.ax/github"
export default automation("Watch closed GitHub issues", () => {
  const event = onGitHubIssueClosed()
  event.transform(({ issue, repository }) => ({
    issue: issue.number,
    repository: repository.full_name,
  }))
})
```

Optional static `account` defaults to the project binding. Returns `Signal<GitHubIssueClosedEvent>` with `action: "closed"` and the complete typed GitHub issue webhook payload. The installation needs Issues read permission and repository access.
