# On GitHub pull request closed

> Start an automation when a pull request closes without merging.

`onGitHubPullRequestClosed` emits `"closed"` deliveries only when `pull_request.merged` is `false`.

```ts automations/watch-closed-github-pull-requests.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { onGitHubPullRequestClosed } from "automate.ax/github"
export default automation("Watch closed GitHub pull requests", () => {
  const event = onGitHubPullRequestClosed()
  event.transform(({ pull_request }) => ({
    closed: pull_request.number,
    merged: pull_request.merged,
  }))
})
```

Optional static `account` defaults to the project binding. Returns `Signal<GitHubPullRequestClosedEvent>` with `action: "closed"` and `pull_request.merged: false`. Merged pull requests emit [On GitHub pull request merged](/reference/integrations/github/triggers/on-pull-request-merged) instead.
