# On GitHub pull request merged

> Start an automation when a GitHub pull request is merged.

`onGitHubPullRequestMerged` classifies GitHub's `"closed"` delivery when `pull_request.merged` is `true`.

```ts automations/watch-merged-github-pull-requests.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { onGitHubPullRequestMerged } from "automate.ax/github"
export default automation("Watch merged GitHub pull requests", () => {
  const event = onGitHubPullRequestMerged()
  event.transform(({ pull_request }) => ({
    mergeCommit: pull_request.merge_commit_sha,
    pullRequest: pull_request.number,
  }))
})
```

Optional static `account` defaults to the project binding. Returns `Signal<GitHubPullRequestMergedEvent>` with `action: "closed"`, `pull_request.merged: true`, and the complete typed payload. An unmerged close emits the separate closed trigger.
