# On GitHub release published

> Start an automation when a GitHub release is published.

`onGitHubReleasePublished` emits release deliveries whose action is `"published"`.

```ts automations/watch-published-github-releases.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { onGitHubReleasePublished } from "automate.ax/github"
export default automation("Watch published GitHub releases", () => {
  const event = onGitHubReleasePublished()
  event.transform(({ release, repository }) => ({
    repository: repository.full_name,
    tag: release.tag_name,
    url: release.html_url,
  }))
})
```

Optional static `account` defaults to the project binding. Returns `Signal<GitHubReleasePublishedEvent>` with `action: "published"` and the complete typed release payload, including tag, target, draft and prerelease flags, author, assets, timestamps, and URLs. The installation needs Contents read permission and repository access.
