# On GitHub tag deleted

> Start an automation when GitHub deletes a tag.

`github.onTagDeleted` starts an automation when a repository tag is deleted.

  const event = github.onTagDeleted()

})
```

Returns the typed `delete` payload with `ref_type: "tag"`. GitHub does not deliver this event when more than three tags are deleted at once. Requires Contents read permission.
