# Reply to Instagram comment

> Publishes a public reply to an Instagram comment.

`metaAds.replyToInstagramComment` publishes a public reply to a comment on the account's Instagram media.

```ts automations/meta-ads-reply-to-instagram-comment.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation, onDashboardRun } from "automate.ax"
import { metaAds } from "automate.ax/meta-ads"
export default automation("Reply to Instagram comment", () => {
  onDashboardRun({ title: "Reply to Instagram comment" })
  metaAds.replyToInstagramComment({
    commentId: "comment-id",
    message: "Thanks! Check your DMs for the details.",
  })
})
```

Meta attaches replies to top-level comments; replying to a reply adds to the same top-level thread. You can't reply to hidden comments or live-video comments. Use [Private reply to Instagram comment](https://docs.automate.ax/reference/integrations/meta-ads/actions/private-reply-to-instagram-comment.md) for private details. Optional second argument `{ account }` selects a static project account binding.

Returns the new comment's `id`. Replies aren't replay-safe. The action needs `instagram_basic`, `instagram_manage_comments`, `pages_read_engagement`, and `pages_show_list`.
