# Mark as read

> Mark one Outlook message as read.

`markAsRead` sets `isRead` to true.

import { markAsRead, onNewEmail } from "automate.ax/outlook"

export default automation("Mark Outlook mail read", () => {
  const email = onNewEmail()
  markAsRead({ messageId: email.messageId })
})
```

Required `messageId` identifies the message. Optional `account` defaults to the
project Microsoft binding. Returns the updated complete `OutlookMessage`, whose
`isRead` is true. Reapplying the action is harmless provider-side.
