# Set categories

> Replace the categories assigned to an Outlook message.

`setCategories` replaces the entire message category list; it does not merge
with existing categories.

import { setCategories } from "automate.ax/outlook"

export default automation("Categorize Outlook message", () => {
  setCategories({
    messageId: "AAMkAGI2...",
    categories: ["Customer", "Urgent"],
  })
})
```

Required `messageId` identifies the message and `categories: string[]` is the
complete replacement. Pass `[]` to clear categories. Optional `account` selects
the binding. Returns the updated normalized `OutlookMessage`.
