# Create custom event definition

> Define a custom event for Resend Automations.

`resend.createCustomEventDefinition({ name, schema? })` defines a custom event. The optional flat schema maps keys to `string`, `number`, `boolean`, or `date`. Names cannot start with the reserved `resend:` prefix.
