# Delete contact

> Permanently delete a Resend contact.

`deleteContact` permanently removes a contact by ID or email address.

import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { deleteContact } from "automate.ax/resend"

export default automation("Delete Resend contact", () => {
  deleteContact({ contactId: "person@example.com" })
})
```

`contactId` is required; optional `account` selects the binding. Returns
`{ contact: string; deleted: boolean; object: string }`.

Deletion is different from setting `unsubscribed: true`: deletion removes the
record, while unsubscribing preserves it and its history.
