# Create private channel

> Create a private Slack channel.

`slack.createPrivateChannel` creates a private channel.

## Example

```ts automations/create-private-channel.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation, onDashboardRun } from "automate.ax"
import { slack } from "automate.ax/slack"

export default automation("Create private channel", () => {
  onDashboardRun({ title: "Create private channel" })

  slack.createPrivateChannel({ name: "incident-response" })
})
```

## Inputs

`name` is required, may contain lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores, and may be at most 80 characters.

## Output

Returns the created Slack conversation. Requires `groups:write`.
