# Delete file

> Permanently delete a Slack file.

`slack.deleteFile` permanently deletes a file the installed bot is allowed to delete.

## Example

```ts automations/delete-file.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation, onDashboardRun } from "automate.ax"
import { slack } from "automate.ax/slack"

export default automation("Delete file", () => {
  onDashboardRun({ title: "Delete file" })

  slack.deleteFile({ fileId: "F01234567" })
})
```

## Inputs

Requires the stable Slack `fileId`.

## Output

Completes without a value. Requires `files:write`. This operation is destructive and Slack does not provide a restore action.
