# Delete message

> Delete a message posted by the installed Slack bot.

`deleteMessage` permanently deletes a message authored by the installed bot.

## Example

```ts automations/delete-slack-message.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { deleteMessage } from "automate.ax/slack"

export default automation("Delete Slack message", () => {
  deleteMessage({ conversationId: "C01234567", timestamp: "1700000000.000001" })
})
```

## Inputs

| Input            | Type                                             | Required | Description                                     |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------ | -------- | ----------------------------------------------- |
| `conversationId` | `string`                                         | Yes      | Conversation containing the message.            |
| `timestamp`      | `string`                                         | Yes      | Slack timestamp identifying the message.        |
| `account`        | `string \| IntegrationAccountReference<"slack">` | No       | Slack binding; defaults to the project binding. |

## Output

Returns `{ conversationId: string; timestamp: string }` confirming Slack's
deleted target. The action fails when the message was not posted by the bot or
Slack no longer permits deletion.
