# Open group direct message

> Open or resume a multi-person Slack direct message.

`slack.openGroupDirectMessage` opens or resumes a group direct message with at least two other members.

## Example

```ts automations/open-group-direct-message.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation, onDashboardRun } from "automate.ax"
import { slack } from "automate.ax/slack"

export default automation("Open group direct message", () => {
  onDashboardRun({ title: "Open group direct message" })

  slack.openGroupDirectMessage({
    userIds: ["U01234567", "U07654321"],
  })
})
```

## Inputs

Requires a `userIds` array containing at least two member IDs. Set `preventCreation` to return an error instead of creating a new conversation.

## Output

Returns `conversation` and `alreadyOpen`. Requires `mpim:write`.
