# Set private channel topic

> Set a private Slack channel's topic.

`slack.setPrivateChannelTopic` replaces a private channel's plain-text topic.

## Example

```ts automations/set-private-channel-topic.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation, onDashboardRun } from "automate.ax"
import { slack } from "automate.ax/slack"

export default automation("Set private channel topic", () => {
  onDashboardRun({ title: "Set private channel topic" })

  slack.setPrivateChannelTopic({
    channelId: "G01234567",
    topic: "Severity 1 response",
  })
})
```

## Inputs

Requires `channelId` and the new `topic`. Pass an empty string to clear it.

## Output

Returns the updated conversation. Requires either `groups:write` or `groups:write.topic`.
