# On channel renamed

> Run an automation when a public Slack channel is renamed.

`slack.onChannelRenamed` emits `channel_rename` events for public channels visible to the bot.

```ts automations/watch-slack-channel-names.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { slack } from "automate.ax/slack"

export default automation("Watch Slack channel names", () => {
  const channel = slack.onChannelRenamed()
  // Use channel.channelId to update the stored Slack channel name.
})
```

The result includes `channelId`, `name`, `createdAt`, the typed original `event`, and the complete `envelope`.
