# On file created

> Run an automation when Slack creates a file.

`slack.onFileCreated` emits `file_created` events visible to the installed bot.

```ts automations/watch-slack-files.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { slack } from "automate.ax/slack"

export default automation("Watch Slack files", () => {
  const file = slack.onFileCreated()
  // Use file.fileId to fetch or classify the new Slack file.
})
```

The result includes `fileId`, `userId`, event and workspace timestamps, the typed original `event`, and the complete `envelope`.
