# On file shared

> Run an automation when a Slack file is shared.

`slack.onFileShared` emits `file_shared` events when a visible file is shared into a conversation.

```ts automations/watch-shared-slack-files.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { slack } from "automate.ax/slack"

export default automation("Watch shared Slack files", () => {
  const file = slack.onFileShared()
  // Use file.channelId and file.fileId to index the shared Slack file.
})
```

The result includes `fileId`, `channelId`, `userId`, the typed original `event`, and the complete `envelope`.
