# Get Device

> Retrieves Device with the associated `device_id`.

`square.getDevice` retrieves Device with the associated `device_id`.

## Example

```ts automations/square-get-device.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation, onDashboardRun } from "automate.ax"
import { square } from "automate.ax/square"

export default automation("Get Square Device", () => {
  onDashboardRun({ title: "Get Square Device" })

  square.getDevice({
    deviceId: "device_id",
  })
})
```

## Inputs

Every input accepts a compatible signal. It requires `DEVICES_READ`.

| `deviceId` | `string` | Yes      | —       | The unique ID for the desired `Device`. |

## Output

Returns the official `Square.GetDeviceResponse` response as a codec-safe object. Square integer money amounts remain `bigint` values.
