# On Payment Updated

> A Payment field was updated. For example, the payment.status or card_details.status field is updated when a payment is authorized, canceled, or completed.

`square.onPaymentUpdated` subscribes to `payment.updated` for the selected seller. It requires `PAYMENTS_READ`.

## Example

```ts automations/square-on-payment-updated.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { square } from "automate.ax/square"

export default automation("onPaymentUpdated", () => {
  const event = square.onPaymentUpdated()

  // Send event to the Square-aware order, CRM, or messaging action you use.
})
```

## Event

A Payment field was updated. For example, the payment.status or card\_details.status field is updated when a payment is authorized, canceled, or completed.

The signal resolves to the official `Square.PaymentUpdatedEvent` payload with `type` narrowed to `payment.updated`.
