# Create PaymentMethod

> Create a Stripe PaymentMethod from provider-supported details.

Use `stripe.createPaymentMethod` for server-side payment-method types supported by Stripe. Prefer Stripe.js for raw card details so they do not pass through your automation.

## Inputs

Supply the payment-method `type` and its matching detail object. `billingDetails`, `metadata`, and `idempotencyKey` are optional.

## Output

Returns the created PaymentMethod.
