# Create SetupIntent

> Create a Stripe SetupIntent for a future payment method.

Use `stripe.createSetupIntent` to collect permission to reuse a payment method later.

## Example

```ts automations/stripe-create-setup-intent.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation, onDashboardRun } from "automate.ax"
import { stripe } from "automate.ax/stripe"

export default automation("Create SetupIntent", () => {
  onDashboardRun({ title: "Create SetupIntent" })
  stripe.createSetupIntent({ customer: "cus_123", usage: "off_session" })
})
```

## Inputs

Set `customer`, `paymentMethod`, payment-method options, and `usage` as needed. `idempotencyKey` is optional.

## Output

Returns the created SetupIntent with camel-cased fields.
