# Update dispute

> Update evidence or metadata on a Stripe dispute.

Use `stripe.updateDispute` to save evidence or submit a response before Stripe's deadline.

## Inputs

`disputeId` is required. Set `submit: true` only when the evidence is final; Stripe can restrict later edits. `idempotencyKey` is optional.

## Output

Returns the updated dispute.
