# Update PaymentMethod

> Update an attached Stripe PaymentMethod.

Use `stripe.updatePaymentMethod` to change billing details or metadata after attachment.

## Inputs

`paymentMethodId` is required. The method must be attached before Stripe permits updates. `idempotencyKey` is optional.

## Output

Returns the updated PaymentMethod.
