# Get chat

> Get one Microsoft Teams chat by ID.

`getChat` retrieves one chat's metadata. It does not load its members or
messages; use the corresponding list actions for those collections.

## Example

```ts automations/get-teams-chat.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { getChat } from "automate.ax/teams"
export default automation("Get Teams chat", () => {
  getChat({ chatId: "19:opaque-chat-id@thread.v2" })
})
```

## Inputs

Required `chatId: string` is Microsoft's opaque identifier. Optional `account`
selects a Microsoft binding and defaults to the project binding.

## Output

Returns `chatId`, `chatType`, and optional `topic`, `tenantId`, `createdAt`,
`updatedAt`, and `webUrl`.
