# Update Custom Field option

> Update a Trello Custom Field dropdown option.

`trello.updateCustomFieldOption` changes one list-type Custom Field option.

```ts automations/update-trello-custom-field-option.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation, onDashboardRun } from "automate.ax"
import { trello } from "automate.ax/trello"
export default automation("Update Trello Custom Field option", () => {
  onDashboardRun({ title: "Update Trello Custom Field option" })
  trello.updateCustomFieldOption({
    customFieldId: "custom-field-id",
    optionId: "option-id",
    text: "In review",
    color: "yellow",
  })
})
```

Provide `customFieldId`, `optionId`, and at least one of non-empty `text`, `color`, or `position`. Colors use the same union as `trello.createCustomFieldOption`; `position` accepts `"top"`, `"bottom"`, or a nonnegative number. Optional second argument `{ account }` selects a Trello binding.

Returns the updated `TrelloCustomFieldOption`.

Trello exposes option updates through its singular `customField/{id}/options/{optionId}` provider route even though the read and delete routes use `customFields`.
