# Update Custom Field

> Update a Trello Custom Field definition.

`trello.updateCustomField` changes a Custom Field's name, position, or card-front display setting. Its value type can't be changed.

import { trello } from "automate.ax/trello"

export default automation("Update Trello Custom Field", () => {
  onDashboardRun({ title: "Update Trello Custom Field" })
  trello.updateCustomField({
    customFieldId: "custom-field-id",
    displayOnCardFront: false,
    name: "Story points",
  })
})
```

Provide `customFieldId` and at least one of `displayOnCardFront`, non-empty `name`, or `position`. `position` accepts `"top"`, `"bottom"`, or a nonnegative number. Optional second argument `{ account }` selects a Trello binding.

Returns the updated `TrelloCustomField`.
