# On Vercel project environment variable updated

> Start an automation when a Vercel project environment variable is updated.

`onVercelProjectEnvironmentVariableUpdated` emits when a project environment variable is updated.

```ts automations/audit-updated-vercel-environment-variables.automation.ts theme={null}
import { automation } from "automate.ax"
import { onVercelProjectEnvironmentVariableUpdated } from "automate.ax/vercel"
export default automation("Audit updated Vercel environment variables", () => {
  const event = onVercelProjectEnvironmentVariableUpdated()
  event.transform(({ payload }) => ({
    environmentVariableId: payload.envVarId,
    projectId: payload.projectId,
  }))
})
```

Optional static `account` defaults to the project's Vercel OAuth binding.

## Trigger data

Returns the [environment-variable event shape](/reference/integrations/vercel/triggers/on-project-environment-variable-event), narrowed to `type: "project.env-variable.updated"`. Vercel never includes the variable value.
